WHO WE ARE

Established in 2009, Hot Smoked was set up by Alyson and David Murray and started from an outbuilding at their small farm in rural Devon. It has grown to become one of the UK’s premier food smoking woods and starter gift kit specialists. In 2025 the brand was acquired by ProSmoke BBQ, the brainchild of Oliver Giles, offering a wide portfolio of BBQ and outdoor cooking equipment, which the Hot Smoked range perfectly complements. Hot Smoked’s loyal and enthusiastic customer base and an ever growing food smoking community will now benefit from a much wider selection of BBQ goods. ProSmoke BBQ will continue to bring the benefits of cooking with wood to back garden cooks, artisan smokeries, chefs, restaurants and distilleries throughout the UK.

From a love of cooking outdoors and a thirst for new cooking techniques, we discovered food smoking. We have delved deep into the world of wood smoke flavour and demonstrated how, using just a humble BBQ, you can create sensational hot & cold smoked dishes.

OUR STORY

Alyson: Buying a hot smoker was the beginning of our food smoking journey. A move to rural Devon after a marketing career in London saw us embracing country life, growing our own veg, keeping chickens, turkeys, rare breed pigs, sheep and cattle. With excellent fresh produce to hand we experimented with our new smoker, perfecting low and slow BBQ with wonderful wood smoke infusions along with curing and cold smoking. We created Hot Smoked in 2008 as a shopfront for our foodie finds, beginning a journey into the fragrant world of woods and outdoor cooking equipment. Since winning overall Gift of the Year in 2019, we have expanded our starter gift kits, bringing delicious wood smoke to BBQs across the country!
