Details

We've packaged together the essentials for an outdoor cooking trip with this portable bucket bbq kit. Just add food, friends and hopefully some sunshine. The lightweight galvanised steel bucket barbecue has a 28cm diameter, roomy enou gh to cook for at least 4 people and light enough to be easily transportable. It has a wooden handle, a chrome grill rack and separate perforated charcoal plate which sits on a ridge about a third of the way up from the base which itself has a ring of circular perforations for ventilation. The grill rack sits in a ridge at the top of the bucket. Along with the bucket barbecue is a 2.25kg bag of Nettelfields Lumpwood Charcoal. Our images show a Bulworthy pack however, Dan Nettelfields is a protegee of the Bulworthy team and is now producing his own brand of lumpwood charcoal). His amazing charcoal is produced using traditional methods, just a few miles from Hot Smoked's HQ in deepest Devon. The wood is locally sourced sustainable coppiced varieties and it has absolutely no additives, which gives it restaurant grade status. You can actually see the branches of wood and this pure cooking heat will enhance rather than taint your food (like much of the mass produced imported and all too flakey lumpwoods more readily available). To help you light your charcoal we've also included a bundle of approximately 8 Ocote Sticks. These are a totally chemical free natural firelighter, forested sustainably from the Ocote pine tree (Pinus Oocarpa) which is native to Guatamale. When the trees blow down or after natural forest fires the roots of the Ocote tree continue to produce sap, saturating the trunk with resin. The wood shards taken from the trunk are highly flammable as a result and are a very effective way to light your fire without the use of chemicals which can taint your food. The sticks initially catch fire with a black smoke and then burn strongly to help establish your charcoal fire. Also included is a sealed tube of storm matches - extra heavyweight match heads will give you a stronger lighting flame which will withstand both wind and rain. There are approximately 20 matches in the tube which has a strike panel on the lid and also on the base. Last but not least, we can't let you light up a barbecue without adding some wonderful aromatic wood smoke flavours from a pack of oak wood smoking chips. Soak the chips for 20 minutes or so and add these, a handful at a time, to your white hot coals for some extra smokey punch to your cooking. Packaged in kraft bags with twine closure. Please note: The barbecue should be lit without cooking on for at least 30 minutes prior to adding any food, in order to burn off any manufacturing residues. All parts will get quite hot, so handling with gloves is recommended. dimensions: Bucket BBQ: H 34 x D 30 cm Nettelfields Charcoal: 2.25kg.
