The key advantage of the Kamado style of cooking is insulation. The robust ceramic build and shape means that less heat generation is required for cooking and a wide range of cooking temperatures can be achieved from very low, slow cooking 'smoking' temperatures to higher 'searing' temperatures of up to 400 degrees centigrade and roasting or grilling in between.
It can maintain temperature for longer periods, so this is the ultimate in outdoor cooking versatility.
GRILL - the ceramic construction and unique shape, along with using lump charcoal, mean moister meats and wood-fire flavour.
SEAR - thanks to the insulating properties of Kamado Joe and the ability of lump charcoal to generate significant heat, you’ll be able to achieve temperatures up to 400° C. This means you can sear a steak. 'It will come off sizzling, just like it does at the high-end steak houses' so says the Kamado Joe blurb.
SMOKE - with Kamado Joe’s ability to control temperature and thanks to the long-burning stamina of lump charcoal, you’ll be able to use your Kamado Joe as a smoker or a slow cooker (it will maintain low temps for up to 12 hours without adding lump charcoal).
It only takes 15 minutes for the Kamado to get up to heat so you can begin cooking. The key to this is using a good quality (and ideally a restaurant grade) lumpwood charcoal. See our Charcoal section for some charcoal options. Lumpwood is much easier to light and will burn hotter. It also produces less ash than charcoal briquettes, so there's very little ash residue to clean away from below the charcoal grate. Unburned charcoal sitting in the grate can be reignited for the next cooking session.
For heat control, the Kamado range features a dual-disc cast iron top vent in the lid and a ventilation panel in the base. The top disc or daisy wheel is used for low temperature cooking whilst the bottom disc is used for grilling, baking, roasting and searing.
There's virtually no assembly required to get started. Just remove from the cardboard crate, assemble the steel cradle and place the Kamado into it. Might need two of you to make this last task a little easier.

Delivery Information
Due to their weight and fragility, all ceramic grills are shipped by a pallet service rather than our regular courier service. We allow for the £50 shipping cost within the overall price that you pay giving you a weekday delivery which takes around 2 days. We can ship next day depending on the timing of your order, so do enquire with us if this is a service you need. We can also ship for Saturday delivery, however, there is an additional charge of £50 for this service. Again, please give us a call if you'd like this service.
Deliveries are 'kerb-side' which means the pallet can be brought by the delivery driver as close to your front door as flat-ish surfaces leading to it will allow, as it will be wheeled on a pallet truck. Once out of its crating, you will need a couple of people to help you lift the 'egg' part of the grill into place.
